The Creative Director is responsible for all agency creative design elements produced by the department. They are well versed in multiple facets of creative design for all channels. They will create the overall design and direct others who develop artwork or layouts. The Creative Director works with a multifunctional team of internal and external designers, writers, videographers, photographers, project managers and developers to create innovative and usable solutions that satisfy needs spanning digital storytelling, mobile, and traditional media channels. Additionally, they balance the departmental leadership with an understanding of estimating, capacity reports, profitability, mentorship, and overall business quality for the creative department.


Set Strategy
• Work with executive team, clients, freelancers and vendors to conceptualize designs that will advance the client's business, marketing or branding objectives. Has a deep and thorough understanding of those objectives -- is a strategic partner for Creative "clients"
• Understand the impact of the company's client's business, marketing or branding objectives on the Creative team and set accurate expectations based on the capacity and capability of the overall team
• Understand branding standards and have accountability for brand consistency across a range of vehicles including branding campaigns and collateral, web/interactive and other marketing programs
• Understand how to drive a branding initiative from start to finish, including effective expression of value propositions
• Ability to analyze output from a quality perspective
• Identify and define testing opportunities for projects, to drive optimization

Functional Lead
• Oversee the creative work produced by the creative team, and help designers and writers produce superior creative work that meets client objectives, brand standards, and usability best practices
• Able to present creative and articulate vision to clients with rationale and professionalism
• Able to work hands-on during times of tight deadlines for the rest of the team
• Collaborate with team on a per-project basis to establish the creative direction that will achieve strategic business objectives and desired results
• Support the development of each Creative function based on the needs of the organization and the skill level within each group
• Identify and communicate best practices for each functional group
• Promote innovation and experimentation within the team

• Guide and teach team; manage small to medium team
• Groom/mentor future leaders within the Creative organization
• Recruit, train and develop creative talent for MassMedia
• Able to provide feedback across all disciplines that brings quality of work to the next level
• Facilitate formal and informal critiques, give effective feedback
• Conflict resolution: Able to bring resolution to internal or cross-functional debates regarding process or creative execution
• Communicate best practices, set goals, and deliver feedback to develop each team member, including annual performance reviews for direct reports
• Own creative team’s budget
• Own on-time delivery for marketing creative projects
• Contribute to Creative administrative functions: budgets, training, annual planning
• Proactively develop/recruit team members to meet future productivity requirements of the business

• At least 8 years of creative management experience, including at least 4 years within a web company
• Will have deep expertise in one or more aspects of Creative development, and well-rounded experience with all other functions within the creative team:
• Print Design
• Web/Interactive Design
• Imagery
• User Experience
• Project Management
• High level of expertise with the most current version of Adobe Creative Suite on a MAC.
• Strong understanding of corporate branding/style guidelines and page templates
• Beautiful Print production/business product brochure design
• Beautiful PPT work

• Experience developing creative for social channels
• Advanced understanding of design principles
• Knowledge of Print/Web art requirements
• Experience email design
• Video editing knowledge is a plus
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage time efficiently while working on multiple concurrent projects
