What will consumers expect from brands in 2027, and what should marketing leaders be doing about it now?
This October, the Women’s Marketing Collective launched its Phoenix chapter with The Winning Hand: Consumer Predictions 2027, an intimate, invitation-only breakfast in Scottsdale. MassMedia was the presenting sponsor, and the event was held in partnership with Mintel, one of the world’s leading market intelligence agencies.
We kept the group small on purpose. The goal wasn’t a big conference. It was a room of senior women marketing leaders from across consumer-facing industries, with enough time and space to have real conversations. The result was a morning that felt part strategy session and part reunion, even for people meeting for the first time.
Diana Kelter, Head of Consumer Trends, North America at Mintel, opened the morning. She gave an exclusive preview of Mintel’s 2027 global consumer predictions, which draw on Mintel’s research into how consumers around the world are changing how they shop, what they trust and what they expect from brands.
We’ll keep the full findings in the room where they belong, but here’s the shape of what Diana shared:
Each prediction raised the same question: What does this mean for my business?
The real energy came after the presentation. The Q&A turned into a group conversation that continued well into breakfast, as attendees connected the predictions to what they’re seeing in their own businesses.
A few clear threads came through:
The shifts are already here. Almost everyone at the table could point to a recent moment when a customer, a campaign or a sales trend showed one of these predictions playing out. What sounded like 2027 forecasts turned out to describe what many leaders are already working through today.
Every industry feels it differently, but the core challenge is the same. The room covered a wide range of categories, and each leader described the impact through her own business: how customers discover her brand, what keeps them loyal, and where attention is going. Under those differences, the core challenge was shared: earning trust and staying relevant with a consumer who has more choices, more noise and less patience than ever.
Leaders are already adapting. Attendees talked about how their teams are responding: rethinking partnerships, putting proof ahead of promises in their messaging, and taking a hard look at how their brands show up in places they don’t fully control. There was real candor about what’s working, what isn’t, and what’s still being worked out.
Growth requires a long view. The conversation kept returning to evolution rather than reaction. Leaders shared how they plan to keep building in the year ahead, with strategies that can flex as consumer behavior keeps shifting instead of chasing every new trend.
The kickoff was just the beginning. Phoenix has no shortage of talented women leading marketing for some of the country’s most exciting brands, and this chapter exists to bring them together regularly to exchange ideas, challenge assumptions and support each other’s growth.
Planning for the next Phoenix Women’s Marketing Collective gathering is already underway. We look forward to welcoming more members as this group of women marketing leaders grows. Thank you to Diana and the Mintel team for an insightful morning, and to every leader who came with her questions, experience and openness.
As a women-owned, WBE-certified agency, MassMedia is proud to be the presenting sponsor of the Women’s Marketing Collective in Las Vegas and now Phoenix.
