Building a World Record with Legacy Traditional Schools

Legacy Traditional Schools set out to do something big, fun, and highly visual: attempt a LEGO world record using 42,000+ bricks. This initiative brought together students, teachers, and staff to tackle a lofty goal. We recognized this moment as tailor-made for earned media, combining community pride with a “can’t-look-away” visual story perfect for broadcast TV.

Our goal

To generate wide-reaching awareness for the Texas campuses. However, we didn’t just want a single day of news; we aimed to sustain the conversation through a two-wave approach that covered both the event itself and the eventual victory.

Strategy

To maximize momentum and extend the story’s lifespan, we executed a two-pronged outreach plan:

  • Wave 1 (The Attempt): We focused on the visual spectacle. We pitched the live event—students building with 42,000 bricks—to Texas broadcast and national digital outlets, securing immediate on-site coverage.
  • Wave 2 (The Validation): We reignited the media cycle once the record was officially confirmed. By positioning the final count (42,757 pieces) as a new headline, we secured a second burst of coverage to celebrate the win.

The result

By effectively managing the news cycle across two distinct phases, we dominated local and online conversation.
